A video essay is a video that analyzes a specific topic, theme, person or thesis. Because video essays are a rather new form, they can be difficult to define, but recognizable nonetheless. To put it simply, they are essays in video form that aim to persuade, educate, or critique.
These essays have become increasingly popular within the era of Youtube and with many creatives writing video essays on topics such as politics, music, film, and pop culture. Video essays are not restricted to fiction.
basic rules:
- use the NSFW switch for NSFW videos
- if the video includes triggering material, please include it in the tags, so users can filter out content as needed
- not required, but a short blurb or description of the video and why you like it would nice :)
- video essays can be any length, from just a few minutes to hours
- please be mindful of the videos you share. if it does not align with the above guidelines, it does not belong here :)
