Welcome to the Pillowfort batjokes community!
"Batjokes" is the catchall fandom name for the Batman/Joker slash pairing, and is used for most variations on the ship. The characters have been around for over eighty years and DC is a multiverse setting with hundreds of overlapping or contradictory alternate universes, so there are a lot of variations.
Batjokes shipping encompasses everything from gritty live action movies like The Dark Knight Rises to super fluff like Lego Batman. Many shippers have spun up our own versions of the Batman setting to play in, with unique character designs and timelines just like every canon Batman writer/artist. Whether you think it's twisted, tragic, silly, or you're one of the doomed souls rooting for a happily ever after, you're in good company!
Given the tone and subject matter inherent to most versions of the ship, posters will not be expected to make their content suitable for all audiences. Please mind tags and curate your own experience.
Ground Rules
- All types of content are welcome--fic, art, meta, playlists, whatever.
- Character and story-focused work that isn't specifically about the pairing is welcome as long as it's relevant to batjokes in some way.
- NSFW content is welcome! Please flag it and make sure it's tagged appropriately.
- Use tags generously so people can filter stuff (body horror, gore, kinks, etc.). It's not required, but I'd like to suggest the use of the Ao3 tag "canon-typical" for things normally found in canon (i.e. "canon-typical violence"). For a setting like this, that offers a lot of information.
- For the reason above, this community is flagged as NSFW and is not open to minors. If we find that you've misrepresented your age, you will be permanently removed.
- Please don't make posts complaining about a certain type of content (or headcanon, or trope, or whatever) being too prevalent. That never ends well. Start a positive discussion about what you want to see (or submit it yourself!).
- Ideally, we would like to see your original content. Never repost fanworks you didn't make without explicit permission from the original creator. You must state in your post that it was reposted with permission, and provide a link when crediting the creator.
- Don't post unsolicited critique on the quality of submissions. If you're a creator seeking feedback, please make a note of that in the body of your post.
- Do not be racist, transphobic, ableist, misogynist, or otherwise bigoted. I'm not going to say "you get one chance" because while not everyone is at the same level of social awareness, it's usually really obvious when a malicious actor is trying to test what they can get away with saying. Mods will remove you at our discretion.
- Rape* and explicit content featuring underage characters aren't allowed in this community.
- *Given that a massive amount of the canon material for this ship involves the characters at least pretending to seriously hurt each other, we're going to assume mutual, risk-aware consent unless the OP clearly intended otherwise. No part of anything related to Batman is safe (or possible) IRL.
